Food from the Sun
Way out in space, the sun shines brightly every day. The sun gives all the energy needed to provide food and support life on Earth. Can human beings eat sunlight? No, but plants can! Plants turn sunlight into sugars through a complicated process called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is what happens when plants absorb sunlight to make their own food. Organisms like plants that make their own food are called producers. Producers provide food for themselves and other organisms by using the energy from the sun.
