Planning
Your Garden
The first thing you need to do when planning a xeriscape
is to look at the area that is to be planted. Are there plants
there already? Will those plants stay or be removed to create
the new garden? Is the area to be planted near a fence or
a wall where it gets lots of shade, or is it out in the wide
open where it gets a lot of sun? Is it at the top of a slope
or the bottom of a slope where water run-off collects? After
answering those questions, choose a variety of plants with
different heights, color and textures. This creates a beautiful
and interesting garden.
